Dar a Luz is a blog created to follow an Obstetrics and Gynecology resident through his/her experience volunteering at a hospital in rural Guatemala. “Dar a Luz” in Spanish, literally means “to give to light”, but it’s meaning far more poetic – “to give birth”.
Victoria is a third year resident and the first of the GWU program to volunteer. She originates from NYC/NJ and arrived to DC after eight years in Philadelphia for undergraduate and medical school. With the support of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, she is spending three weeks as the house staff OB/GYN physician as well as working on a midwife training program.
